Day 10, Comayagua and Tugucigalpa, Honduras.

Comayagua was the original capital of Honduras right after their independence from Spain in 1843. Santa Maria conseption is the oldest church in Central America, with a working clock tower dating from the 14th century.( we rang the bell)

Tugucigalpa( meaning silver mountain) became the capital in 1846 because of the mining industries and all the silver it had to offer. Bananas that came from Ethiopia were the number one product produced in Honduras. Today, it’s coffee, sugar cane, textiles, tourism and then bananas. Did you know that public schools have two shifts for schools so that the older kids( 4th-6th grade) can work on the coffee plantations before school!!!!

We visited Pulahpansak waterfalls where we Ziplined over the falls, and later stopped by the Yojoa lake for lunch and fishing. ( found out it was tilapia😬 and that they are the number one exporters of tilapia to the USA)
