This island might be small only 697 square kilometers in size, but it is packed with so much to see and do. Marina Bay Sands is one of the most photographed hotels in the world. It is famous for its infinity pool on the top of the three buildings overlooking the city and the avatar trees in the Gardens by the bay. Although in 2016, Singapore was rated the country with the unhappiest people, I do not agree. We have found the locals kind, helpful and always smiling. For several years and still today, Singapore is the most expensive country in the world to live in. Food and transportation are still affordable but retail and living are off the charts. There are several unusual laws that I bet you did not know about Singapore.1) It’s against the law to chew gum unless you have a prescription in public, 2) it is also against the law and you get a fine of $150 if you don’t flush your toilet in public bathrooms (there are random checks) and 3) A fine of up to $1000 if you litter on the streets!
