We arrived at 5am to Cartagena,Colombia, safe and sound๐ what a beautiful city with its domes, forts and bright colors.
Cartagena is a port city on Columbia’s Caribbean coast. By the sea is the walled old town, founded in the 16th century, with squares, cobblestone streets and colorful buildings. It was strategically located between the Magdalena and Sinรบ rivers and became the main port for trade between Spain and its overseas empire, establishing its importance by the early 1540s. The main export was Peruvian silver to Spain and for the import of African slaves under the asiento system. In 1984 Cartagena walled city and fortress were designated Caribbean due to the walled city, which is designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. Top things to see are: Getsemanu( neighborhood), walled city, Castillo de San Felipe, and Bazurto markets.
