Early morning to Copacobana( which means view point of the lake). The town has a large 16th-century shrine, the Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana. Our Lady of Copacabana is the patron saint of Bolivia. The town is a destination for tourism in Bolivia. The town is also known for its famous Basilica, home of the Virgin of Copacabana, its trout, and its quaint atmosphere. Many people come to get their cars blessed by the towns priest. We crossed Lake Titikaka ( meaning puma rock and the largest lake in South America)by ferry to Sun island where The Inca civilization began. The sun temple was where they made pilgrimages from all South America to offer to the Sun God. A 250 step climb to the top (4080 meters!) to see a magnificent view of the lake and some of the 72 islands in the lake. ![]()
